Kishoreganj Jail Super, 2 others hurt by inmate

KIRHOREGANJ, Oct 08 (UNB): Kishoreganj Jail Super, a jail guard and a prisoner were severely injured in an attack by an inmate over a trifling matter in the district jail on Saturday.
Injured Mahbub Alam, 50, superintendent of the district jail, Alim Uddin, 42, a police constable, and inmate Tahiful Islam, 35, were rescued by jail guards and admitted to hospital.
Jail sources said convict Faruk Ahammed, 35, of Bhairab municipality who has been serving 20 years jail term handed down by court in connection with robbery cases, engaged in an altercation with co-inmate Tahiful over a trifling matter at the canteen of the jail at 11.00 am.
At one stage Faruk picked up a 'ram dao' (long, sharp steel weapon) from the canteen and stabbed Tahiful, leaving him severely injured.
