Kiwis-BCB XI practice match called off

Wednesday, 8 October 2008

The lone practice match between visiting New Zealand team and Rajin Saleh-led BCB XI had been called off due to rain and wet outfield at the Osmani Stadium at Fatullah in Narayanganj Tuesday, UNB reports.
Although there was no match possible on the day, the New Zealand side had a two-hour long practice at Fatullah Stadium, which includes running, stretching and batting practice.
On a month-long tour, New Zealand will play the first ODI against Bangladesh tomorrow (Thursday) at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Cricinfo adds: Pleased with the "nice build-up" to New Zealand's tour of Bangladesh, Daniel Vettori does not expect anything less than series wins in the Tests and one-day internationals.
A 3-0 sweep in the ODIs will elevate New Zealand to No. 2 in the ICC rankings, which Vettori said would be special.
Despite whitewashing Bangladesh at home during their visit to New Zealand in December-January, Vettori said away conditions provided a tougher challenge. "I think most countries who come to Bangladesh know they are in for a difficult time".
