The Malaysian government will consider the long-standing issue of legalising the Bangladeshi workers in that country with utmost sincerity, reports BSS from Kuala Lumpur.
"We will put forward the issue of Bangladeshi workers before the government's recruitment committee soon," Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Abdul Razak told Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wednesday.
During the talks held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the two leaders had a detailed discussion ranging from bilateral issues to establishing world peace to cutting poverty from the Asian region and combating terrorism.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said the Malaysian Prime Minister appreciated the Bangladeshi workers, saying that they are playing a very important role in building his country's economy.
Highlighting her government's programmes for human resources development, Sheikh Hasina said her government has taken various schemes to impart training to the Bangladeshi workers intending to work abroad.
"From now on, we will impart training to our people on the language as well as rules and regulations of the host countries before sending them abroad for work," she told her Malaysian counterpart.
Referring to the excellent investment-friendly environment prevailing in Bangladesh, she said Malaysia can invest more in Bangladesh's different important sectors like power, gas, telecommunications and infrastructure for mutual benefits. She also assured that her government would provide all-out support to this end.
