Country's knitwear sector will get easy access to improved Korean apparel technology and machineries following signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Korea Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) on Tuesday.
The BKMEA President Fazlul Haq and KOFOTI executive vice chairman Ha Myeng-Keun signed the MOU that is expected to help strengthen bilateral trade relations, especially in the textile and apparel sectors.
"We're hopeful that the MOU will strengthen our trade relations as Korea will provide fashion technology, create a scope of exchanging apparel experts and remove hurdles affecting trade between the two countries," said Fazlul Haq.
Speaking at the MOU signing ceremony, the Korean delegation said Korea is offering duty free access to a number of Bangladeshi products, including some apparel items. Korea import goods worth US$5.4 billion against its exports worth US$13 million from Bangladesh, they added.
