Officers' knowledge in preparing bankable project proposals is key to ensuring access to finance to face challenges of globalisation.
Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Waqar Ahmad made the observation.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a training course titled 'How to Prepare a Bankable Project Proposal' at DCCI Business Institute (DBI) in the city recently.
Mr Ahmad said banking has been playing an important role in the economic development of a country.
Bangladesh, as one of the least developed countries of the world, has the vision to become a mid-income country by 2021 by alleviate poverty. Banking is a powerful instrument to bring about socio-economic development of a country with its financing activities, he added.
He laid emphasis on enterprise development by potential entrepreneurs. With adequate financing, such enterprises can create employment opportunity and earn foreign exchange from export-oriented, or import-substitute industries.
The participants thanked DCCI Business Institute for organising such a unique course and expressed satisfaction at getting the opportunity to acquire practical and advanced knowledge of bankable project proposals from the experienced resource persons.
Executive Director of DBI Md Hossain Ali said the knowledge gained from the training course will be effective only if the participants apply their acquired knowledge to their day-to-day activities and disseminate these to others.
Shamsuddin Azad, deputy secretary (training) and course coordinator of DBI, moderated the session.
