Knowledge on marketing, selling to achieve business target stressed

The entrepreneurs and the executives of business organisations have been urged to have proper knowledge on marketing and selling to achieve long-term business success in the present competitive global market.
Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Md Shoaib Choudhury made the appeal while speaking as the chief guest at the certificate awarding ceremony of a training course organised by DCCI Business Institute (DBI) on "Marketing, Professional Selling Spirit and Secret of Success" in the city recently, said a press release.
The objective of the training course was to develop skills among the persons who are in- charges of marketing or sales department in business organisations.
The chief guest said an organisation must have orientation in producing goods and services to ensure sustained operation and growth in the market.
The marketing or sales managers are responsible for crucial functions of assessing and estimating demands for products and services, selling and distribution and ensuring customers' satisfaction.
So skills of the marketing managers are vital for the success of organisations, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of DBI Md Hossain Ali called upon the participants to be forward-looking in attitude so as to exploit emerging opportunities in the global market.
He said that their learning would be effective only if they apply their acquired knowledge in day-to-day activities and continue to enhance their skills.
The contents of the course were: Introduction to Marketing, Marketing & Sales Promotion; Local Rules and Regulations, Market Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning; Competition Analysis and Competitive Advantage; Product Planning and Pricing Strategy; Distribution Management; Market Promotion, Integrated Marketing Communication; Tools and techniques of modern salesmanship; Advertising and Sales Promotion; Preparation and Implementation of Marketing Plan and Role play and Group Discussion.
A total of 13 participants from different business organisations, students and other individuals took part in the course at their own expenses.
The course was coordinated by Assistant Secretary (Training) of DBI Tamanna Sultana.
