Special Correspondent | Thursday, 1 October 2015

The ensuing 5th Capital Market Fair, to be arranged by Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will help broaden the financial literacy among the investors.
"CSE realises the significance of financial literacy. The fair is part of our enduring efforts to create awareness among the investors," Wali-ul-Maroof Matin, Managing Director of CSE said.
The two-day fair begins at GEC Convention Centre in the port city October 8. Investors will get 200 experts waiting in person to reply to any investment related questions.
"We will soon reach to every corner of the country to promote the financial literacy campaign. Our website is restructured. We have extensive use of social media. Despite financial limitation in the post- demutualisation regime, the CSE board is determined to invest in financial literacy programme," the CSE MD said.
He said without a minimum financial literacy, entry to the stock market is like getting into an unknown maze.
According to the organizers, the CSE fair will be a direct engagement with the general investors.
"We had had it in the last years when CSE officers, brokers and even the officers of the regulators remained stand-by and receiving investors to discuss on investment opportunities and risks," another CSE official said.
He said investors are always welcome to CSE and its brokers.  Nevertheless, this is a completely devoted event to meet the investors.
"This is a fiesta when we will talk about the creation of wealth, its retention for next generation.  We will discuss how to win in the investment game," a CSE source said.
The CSE Fair puts thrust on knowledge sharing in a festive mood.
"This year's fair will be the 5th one. Every time we add new events, as we learn from the previous episodes."
"This time we will hold series of seminars while the fair is on.  These seminars will bring experts to talk about most relevant issues of the day.  For example, we have seen a series of developments in the governance issues.  New laws and rules have come up to assist the investors.  We will have high ups from the regulators to explain those.  We will apprise the participants about the upcoming developments to reduce risk exposures."
"We have also arranged a raffle draw for the visitors. We will provide 20 attractive prizes to the raffle draw winners," another CSE official told The FE.
