Wednesday, 13 March 2024

The Men's T20 World Cup is round the corner, and teams around the world are eagerly awaiting the provisional squads that will be sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in May.
For Team India, however, there may be a heartbreaking exclusion as recent media report suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors are considering leaving out batting icon Virat Kohli from the squad for the tournament, According to Indian English-language business-focused daily newspaper Economic Times.
The T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA, is scheduled to take place from June 02 to 29. The BCCI secretary Jay Shah has already confirmed that Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team. However, the report in Telegraph suggests that Kohli's inclusion is not guaranteed.
The selectors are reportedly concerned about India's failure to win an ICC trophy since the 2013 Champions Trophy. They believe that Kohli has not performed at his best in the T20 format. However, if Kohli has a stellar performance in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the selectors may reconsider their decision.
