The 11th death anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko, the younger son of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, was observed on Saturday.
Marking the day, the BNP organised various programmes in the capital and elsewhere in the country.
He died of heart attack at the age of 45 in Malaysia on this day in 2015.
His body was brought back to Bangladesh two days later and buried at the Banani Graveyard after a historic namaz-e-janaja in front of the National Baitul Mukarram Mosque.
BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said a Quran Khatam was organised at Banani Graveyard.
In the morning, BNP leaders, led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, paid tributes to Koko by placing wreaths at his grave and offered prayers seeking forgiveness for his soul.
A milad and doa mahfil was held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan at 11:00 am. Another prayer programme was arranged in the afternoon at the party chairperson's political office in Gulshan.
