Thursday, 20 March 2008

FE Report
The cafeteria project, established by Korea Overseas Volunteer (KOV), was opened at Raicho village in Comilla district recently.
Korean Ambassador in Bangladesh Park Suk Bum and Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) Director General M Khairul Kabir jointly inaugurated the cafeteria project.
Jae Soon Lee, a Korean volunteer, has been working in BARD under the sponsorship of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), established this project to process locally available fruits into jam, jelly as well as bean curd (tofu), which is a new edible item in the area. Through this project, seasonal fruits will be available in processed varieties during off-seasons.
This would also provide an opportunity to the local residents to raise their standard of living through increased income.
KOICA has been dispatching Korea Overseas Volunteers to Bangladesh for more than a decade in different sectors including rural development.
