Krishak Dal leader killed in Bagerhat attack

BAGERHAT, June 10(BSS): A local Krishak Dal leader has been killed, and a BNP leader has been critically injured in an attack by unidentified miscreants in Fakirhat upazila of the district.
The deceased is Badal Moral (40), president of Baruipara Union Krishak Dal under Bagerhat Sadar upazila, while the injured is Abdullah Moral (45), president of Ward No. 6 BNP in the same union.
According to police and local sources, the two were travelling by motorcycle for business purposes from the Arpara area to Fakirhat of Bagerhat Sadar upazila around 10:00 pm on Tuesday. When they reached the Niyati Math area of Sonakhali village in Mulghar union of Fakirhat upazila, 8 to 10 miscreants ambushed them from the east.
The miscreants attacked them with local weapons, seriously injuring two of them on the spot. Hearing their screams, local people rushed to the spot and quickly took them to the Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared Md. Badal Morol dead.
On the other hand, when the physical condition of the seriously injured Abdullah Morol deteriorated, he was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital's ICU and his condition is said to be critical.
Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikadar and senior police officials visited the scene at night after receiving information of the incident. Investigations have been launched to find out the cause of the attack and identify those involved.
Fakirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Saiful Islam said the body of the deceased has been sent to Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital for autopsy.
Legal proceedings are ongoing in the matter, and police are trying to arrest the attackers.
