KSA to recruit doctors, health professionals from B’desh

Saudi Arabian Health Minister Dr Abdullah Abdulaziz M Al Rabeeah has expressed his willingness to work with Bangladesh government, saying his government will recruit doctors and health professionals from Bangladesh, reports BSS.
"We will work together in the health sector with medical collaboration for training and research as well as to hire more doctors and health professionals from Bangladesh," he said Sunday while talking to Health Minister Mohammad Nasim at the former's office in Riyadh.
Mohammed Nasim held a bilateral meeting with his Saudi counterpart as part of a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, as a royal guest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
The Saudi minister termed relations between the two countries as time-tested and deep-rooted one with common history, faith, culture and traditions.
The Saudi health minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Nasim also conveyed the greetings and regards of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the custodian of the two holy mosques His Majesty the King of S Arabia.
He appreciated the noble gesture of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his government towards Bangladesh over the years, particularly in providing recent facilities to change the Iqama and regularisation of employment status during the amnesty period from May to November 2013.
During the bilateral meeting, both ministers agreed to enhance cooperation in health sector through sharing experiences, training and research collaboration of medical practitioners of both countries for the betterment of citizens of both nations.
Apprising the recent initiatives and measures taken for the improvement in the health sector in Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina, Mr Nasim sought Saudi support for recognition of Bangladesh medical degrees such as MS, MD and FCPS, which would allow Bangladeshi doctors to work in the Kingdom in a better way.
He also requested his Saudi counterpart to apprise his government to recruit more doctors, nurses and other health professionals from Bangladesh.
Agreeing to consider these proposals from Nasim, the Saudi minister underlined the need for regular and increased interaction between health professionals of both the countries to enhance health services.
The Saudi side also proposed to receive doctors for spending a module in Saudi hospitals while they are pursuing a higher degree in Bangladesh.
During the meeting senior officials of both countries including Vice Minister and Deputy Minister of Health Ministry of Saudi Arabia and Shahidul Islam, Bangladesh Ambassador to KSA, Neazuddin Miah, health secretary, Professor Pran Gopal Datta, vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Professor Abu Shafi Ahemd Amin, president of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and Nazrul Islam, director general (West Asia) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
Earlier, Nasim had a bilateral meeting with the Acting Secretary General of Saudi Commission of Health Specialties.
