KSE index loses 23.52 points

KARACHI, Feb 10 (Business Recorder): The KSE-100 index Tuesday lost 23.52 points to close at 9,786.46 points level due to profit taking in late hours. The market opened on a positive note and the index hit 9,867.04 points intra-day high, up 57.06 points. However, this momentum could not continue due to profit taking by investors in late hours.
Trading also shrank and the volume at ready counter declined to 145.533 million shares as compared to 182.215 million shares traded Monday. Market capitalisation declined by Rs 8 billion to Rs 2.813 trillion. Of 392 active scrips, 212 closed in negative and 157 in positive, while the value of 23 scrips remained unchanged.
KESC was volume leader with 27.920 million shares and gained Re. 0.38 to close at Rs 3.51. Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim increased by Re. 0.74 to close at Rs 32.27 with 9.387 million shares. KESC (R) inched up by Re. 0.12 to Re. 0.22 with 6.425 million shares. WorldCall Telecom gained Re. 0.03 to close at Rs 4.43 with 5.872 million shares. Lotte Pakistan lost Re. 0.18 to close at Rs 10.93 with 5.752 million shares.
