Kuwait hails pact on air traffic rights with India

Tuesday, 3 July 2007

DUBAI, July 2 (PTI): Kuwait has welcomed the new deal with India on air traffic rights, saying it will help civil aviation links between the two countries.
Both sides reached an agreement after three days of nerve-wracking talks following Kuwait's decision to refuse landing of India's state-owned airlines at its international airport.
Accordingly, airlines of both countries will operate their flights as usual, lifting the air of uncertainty over the travel plans of thousands of passengers in Kuwait.
All Air India and Indian Airlines flights will fly as scheduled after a successful conclusion of talks between Kuwait and Indian civil aviation authorities.
Fawaz Al-Farah, director general of the Kuwait's civil aviation department, said negotiations between Kuwait and India resulted in allowing both carriers to airlift 12,000 passengers going to India and the same number while coming back.
