Kuwait hopes to increase trade with Bangladesh

Kuwait government is interested to increase both way trade volume with Bangladesh through exploring more avenues of economic cooperation between the two countries.
"We are keen to increase our trade relations with Bangladesh and our commerce minister will visit Bangladesh soon to identify the potential sectors," newly appointed Kuwait Ambassador in Bangladesh Ali Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Dhufairi apprised President Zillur Rahman while presenting his credentials in the city Tuesday, reports BSS.
During the meeting, the President welcomed the new envoy at Bangabhaban and expressed his satisfaction over cordial and close ties between the two brotherly countries with shared history, faith, culture and values.
He said the present volume of two-way bilateral trade is in favour of Kuwait and despite enormous potentials Bangladesh's export to Kuwait is not significant.
President M Zillur Rahman urged Kuwait to import quality garment products, jute and jute goods, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, leather and leather goods from Bangladesh at very competitive prices to reduce trade gap between the two countries.
He also urged the entrepreneurs of Kuwait to invest in Bangladesh's potential sectors as presently very investment-friendly atmosphere is prevailing in the country.
Mentioning that presently some 0.25 million Bangladeshi workers and 5,000 members of armed forces are working in Kuwait at different sectors, the President expressed his gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for recruiting Bangladeshi manpower.
The President reaffirmed Bangladesh's total commitment to the Palestine cause and its solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for self-determination and statehood.
The envoy assured the President that during his tenure in Bangladesh he would try his level best for increasing the bilateral two-way trade volume between Bangladesh and Kuwait.
