Labourer killed as cotton bale falls on him in Benapole

A labourer was killed as a bale of cotton rolled down on him while he was unloading goods in Benapole land port on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Ashraf Ali, 45, son of late Sheikh Islam of Swarabanghuda village in sadar upazila. Benapole Land Port Handling Workers Union general secretary Rashed Ali said Ashraf sustained injuries as a cotton bale fell down on his head while he along with other labourers was unloading cotton imported from India in the port at about 1:00pm. Ashraf died on the way to hospital. Sub-inspector Ashraful Islam of Benapole Port Police Station confirmed the incident, according to UNB.
