Lack of unity a barrier to full implementation of CHT Treaty: Gowher

Tuesday, 26 August 2014

Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi on Tuesday said lack of unity among different groups of people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) is holding back the full implementation of the CHT Peace Treaty. “This (lack of unity) is one of the big problems in fully implementing the CHT peace treaty as the people of the region are not united …they’re divided into several groups,” he said. Gowher Rizvi was addressing a workshop on a livelihood development project, funded by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), at a city hotel, according to a news agency.
