Lafarge Surma Cement gets NBR award

Lafarge Surma Cement Limited has been awarded by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for being the highest value added tax (VAT) payer from Sunamganj district during the fiscal 2007-2008.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) recently awarded Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd for being the highest value added tax (VAT) payer from Sunamganj district during fiscal 2007-08.
Finance and Planning Adviser AB Mirza Azizul Islam handed over a crest to the company's Head of Communications and CSR Mohiuddin Babar at a function in the city to honour the highest VAT payers at district level.
Lafarge Surma Cement started full operation at its plant at Chhatak, Sunamganj from early last year.
The cement company has paid Tk 301.5 million (30.15 crore) to the national exchequer as VAT during the last fiscal.
Lafarge Surma Cement factory at Chhatak is the only dry process fully integrated cement plant in the country.
With limestone imported from its captive mine in the Indian state of Meghalaya by a 17 kilometre long belt conveyor, Lafarge has been producing supercrete brand of cement.
