Police have arrested three persons for torturing a minor boy on allegations of theft in Ramganj Upazila in Lakshmipur district. The boy, ‘Yaseen’ has been admitted to the Ramganj Upazila Health Complex. Those arrested are Delwar Hossain, Abdus Salam Patwary and ‘Delwar’. Quoting local people, Ramganj Police Station’s OC Tota Mia said that Yaseen had allegedly taken down coconuts from a tree at Patwary’s house on Tuesday. “Patwary nabbed Yaseen from his home on Wednesday morning. “Later, he along with some others, including Delwar Hossain tied the 10-year-old boy to a pole of a shop in the local market and beat him with sticks,” said the police officer. Police rescued the boy and took him to the hospital and arrested the three from the scene. This happens at a time when reports of child killing in Sylhet, Khulna, Chittagong and Barguna districts have created a furor across Bangladesh, according to a news agency.
