Land broker shot dead in Tongi

GAZIPUR, Apr 26 (UNB) :A land broker was gunned down and his driver received bullet- injury in an attack by some miscreants at Link Road of Tongi here Tuesday morning. The deceased was Hazrat Ali (50), a resident of Dauttapara Haji Market area of Tongi. Police said a gang of armed criminals riding motorbikes intercepted the private car of Hazrat Ali on the road adjacent to National Tube Mill on his way to Dhaka at around 9 am. The miscreants sprayed bullet on the car, leaving Ali and his driver Arif (40) critically wounded. Local people rescued and took them to Tongi hospital where on-duty doctor declared Ali dead. Later, Arif was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Police sent the body to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. Miscreants might have killed Ali following enmity over land, police said.
