Land Crime Act soon as minister strives for enactment
FE REPORT | Sunday, 28 May 2023
Significant efforts are underway to enact the Land Crime Prevention and Redress Act during the tenure of the present government.
The proposed law is currently undergoing thorough scrutiny and it will be soon presented in Parliament for consideration.
If the law is enacted, it will alleviate sufferings of the people and contribute to establish a more transparent and efficient land sector.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury came up with the remarks while speaking at a public awareness meeting at the Chattogram Gymnasium Hall in the port city on Saturday marking the Land Service Week 2023.
The minister highlighted the importance of the upcoming law, said a press release.
The event was jointly organised by the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner's Office and the Chattogram District Administration. It was a part of the Land Service Week 2023, which started on May 22 and will conclude on May 28.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman presided over the meeting. Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Aminur Rahaman, freedom fighters Mozaffar Ahmed and AKM Sarwar Kamal from the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad also spoke.
The minister praised the efficiency of the land ministry and its successful implementation of Digital Bangladesh, an initiative announced by the Prime Minister, to provide services to the people.
He also said the ministry has digitised most of its core services. The recent implementation of 100 per cent cashless land development tax system has generated revenue of TK 3.50 billion in the last 43 days. It is expected that the annual revenue from this service would be TK 20 billion.
