Land depression moves slightly northwestwards

The land depression moved slightly northwestwards and lies over West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh Monday afternoon, reports UNB.
It is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction further inland slowly and weaken gradually by giving precipitation, said a Met office bulletin.
Under its influence, steep pressure gradient persists over north Bay. Squally weather may continue to affect the maritime ports.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
Low-lying areas of the coastal districts and their off-shore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by a wind driven surge of 2-3 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
