Land dispute leaves 50 injured in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Nov 10 (bdnews24.com): A clash between two groups over a land dispute has left at least 50 people injured in Fulchhari, Gaibandha.
The clash occurred at Khatiyamari village of Fazlulpur Union under Fulchhari Upazila Tuesday night.
Among the injured, 14 have been admitted to the Gaibandha Sadar Model Hospital and the rest were sent to the Fulchari Upazila Health Complex.
Fazlulpur Union Parishad chairman Jaynal Abedin Jalal said that Shamsul Haque, a resident of Khatiyamari village was locked in a long standing dispute with Beraj Uddin, from the same village, over 6 bigha of land.
The clash erupted when the supporters of Haque protested the followers of Beraj Uddin, who tried to erect a house on the disputed land.
Confirming the authenticity of the news, the Fulchhari police chief Abbas Uddin, however, told the news agency that no one had made any formal complaints so far.
