Lankan investment in tourism, jute, IT, infrastructure sought

A seven member trade delegation of Sri Lanka Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President Harikesha Wijesekera called on DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan at DCCI Sunday.
DCCI president Abul Kasem Khan said in his speech that Sri Lanka is an important business partner of Bangladesh but trade gap between these two friendly SAARC countries still remains. To remove this trade imbalance, establishing direct air route between Dhaka and Colombo is very important, he said. He also informed that the present government of Bangladesh has announced different packages for the foreign investors.
He called upon the Sri Lankan entrepreneurs to take this opportunity and invest in tourism, jute, IT and infrastructure sector of Bangladesh. He also called upon the tourism experts of Sri Lanka to establish Training Centres in Bangladesh for the development of tourism industry of the country.
President of Sri Lanka Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SLBCCI) Harikesha Wijesekera said that the prevailing trade gap is decreasing day by day. He called upon the business community of Bangladesh to visit Sri Lanka to explore business opportunities. He also looked forward to begin direct air route between Dhaka and Colombo soon.

Baten, Engineer Syed Mosharraf Hossain, M Bashir Ullah Bhuiyan, M Anwarul Haque, First Vice President of SLBCCI T.D Packir, Secretary Lalindra Wijekoon, Treasurer S. Prabagar, Executive Director Musfiqur Rahman, Members Kazi Javed Islam and Kusal Jayawardana were present at the meeting.
