Lankans 69 for 2 in 28-over

Bangladesh made early breakthrough in the first innings of their second cricket Test against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday. Lankans were 69 for two wickets in 28 overs in the morning session. Mahela Jayawardene was batting on nine runs off 23 balls in nine overs and Kumara Sangakkara was the other not out bat on the crease with 14 runs from 39 balls (eight overs). Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat on a Chittagong surface expected to be favourable for batting, in the second Test. Sohag Gazi drew the first blood claiming the first Lankan wicket a few minutes into the match. 62 more overs were left for the day 1 of the 2nd Test. Earlier report said Bangladesh opted for a lone seamer in their attack, perhaps because the pitch is expected to turn later in the match. Medium-pace bowler Al-Amin Hossain has been retained, while Robiul Islam and Rubel Hossain have been left out in favour of offspinning allrounder Mahmudullah and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak. The hosts have also swapped out No. 3 batsmen, dropping Marshall Ayub to bring Imrul Kayes in. Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep and spinner Ajantha Mendis will play for Sri Lanka, in lieu of Shaminda Eranga and Rangana Herath, who are returning to Sri Lanka after sustaining injuries. The visitors are otherwise unchanged from the side that won by an innings and 248-runs in Mirpur.
