Lankans bat in push for series win

Thursday, 20 February 2014

Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bat to push for a series win against Bangladesh in the second one day international (ODI) cricket match at Mirpur in Dhaka. The tourists’ captain added an extra spinner in the Lankan Lions’ XI, by picking Ajantha Mendis to replace the injured Nuwan Kulasekara. The seamer was ruled out of the series with a groin injury he picked up in the first ODI held at the same Sher-e-Bangla national stadium, which Sri Lanka won by 13 runs. Hosts Bangladesh also made one change by bringing in Mashrafe Mortaza in place of Al-Amin Hossain.
