Laptop fair begins at Shantinagar today

FE Report A nine-day laptop fair titled 'Eastern Plus BCS Laptop Bazaar' begins today (Thursday) marking the opening of a new business centre for the technology based products in the city's Shantinagar area. Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) and the shop owners of the Eastern Plus are jointly organising the fair which will continue till October 21. Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest. This was disclosed at a press conference at the office of the BCS Wednesday noon. BCS president Mostafa Zabbar said the centre will be a unique market for the laptop. Beyond laptop, 'tablet PC, smart phone, portable computer accessories and relevant software' will be available in the market, he added. The market equipped with 74 shops of 52 brands will be able to meet the demand of the technology lovers, said the veteran technologist. Entry fee for the fair has been fixed at Tk 10 each but the students will have free access, the organiser said. Art competition of junior students, seminars, view exchange meeting, raffle draw and quiz competition will be an added attraction of the fair. Banglalion Communications, Asus and Toshiba, and Eastern Housing and MSI are sponsors of the fair. Secretary General of the BCS Mazibur Rahman Swapon, Joint Secretary General Nazmul Alam Bhuiyan, president of shop owners association of the market Harun-Or-Rashid and secretary Shakil were present at the press conference.
