Laptop fair opens

Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu urged the affluent people to come forward to invest in the information communication technology to flourish the sector.
Addressing at an inaugural session of the three-daylong laptop fair on Thursday, the minister said internet is changing the world so everyone irrespective of urban or rural of the country has to involve with the technology to develop the society.
Mr Inu also inaugurated the fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) and visited some stalls.
In his speech, the information minister said the right uses of a laptop by an individual create a new horizon because s/he can access anywhere of the world through the small device.
The minister opined that the government should withdraw tax on SIM card and VAT (Value Added Tax) on internet use to accelerate the growth of the information technology sector.
The fair organised by Expo Maker has begun with the slogan of 'Laptop for all.'     
Managing director of Samsung Bangladesh Chun Su Moon, country manger of HP Imrul Hossain Bhuiyan, one of the main patrons of the fair Al Amin Dewan and secretary general of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) Nazrul Islam Milon, among others, participated the inaugural session of the fair.
All renowned global brands are displaying their latest laptop products in the fair.
Some 28 stalls of different companies and 19 pavilions in the fair will remain open   from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day for the visitors. Entry charge is Tk 20.
Laptop producer companies like Dell, HP, LG, Asus, Lenovo, Flora Ltd, Acer, MSI, HTS, Fujitsu and Gigabyte are the main participants in the event.
