Customs Intelligence officials seized 250 cartons of foreign-made cigarettes at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport in the city on Tuesday. The cigarettes of Esse Special Gold brand, made in South Korea, were being smuggled into the country through the airport, customs officials said. They said they saw 2 bags lying in an abandoned condition in the belt area of the customs hall. The bags containing the cigarettes might have been taken down from Qatar Airways Flight ‘QF634’ from Doha that landed at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport around 5:30am, the customs men said. Meanwhile, the customs officials seized 250 more cartons of smuggled foreign cigarettes at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport on Monday evening, according to UNB.
