Last word in politics

Monday, 18 April 2011

The book 'Rajnitite Je Shesh Kotha Ache' can, in English version, be titled 'Last Word in Politics'. 'Rajnitite Je Shesh Kotha Ache' is indeed unique and unprecedented as a title of a book. Until now we have been hearing of an acknowledged axiom, "there's no last word in politics". Though the title surprises us at the very first look, it is rather impossible for us to nullify its validity on fingertips. The reason largely lies on the fact that the person who authored the book is the founder of 'Bangladesh Sakkhrata Samiti' (Bangladesh Literacy Society), a national forum dedicated to the task of nation-building apart from being a highly educated personality gifted with undisputed credibility. Moreover, he is the same person who established a research organisation, called 'Bangladesh Development Strategy' that has patronised the publication of the book in question. I read the book and got surprised as well. He has not only briefed us about the prevailing national issues inclusive of possibilities, problems, apprehensions and frustrations in his simple word play, but also analysed them across eight large chapters so as to prick our conscience in an appropriate manner. This is how we are prone to come to the realisation that there is certainly some last word in politics that says, 'By dint of absolute majority in National Assembly, the ruling party has to make appropriate laws to face all existing, upcoming and undesired situations as well as to implement those laws in time with utmost care and patience'. Rabindranath Tagore, the great poet, in his essay entitled 'Education and Culture' wrote seventy five years ago: 'We can't forget that the lesson of asserting the truth that we have the ability to do everything can save our nation'. Amazingly enough, seventy five years later Dr. Md. Osman Ghani has written this book to remind us of the same message. I hope this book will benefit all concerned at least involved in statecraft. The book was ceremonially published on January 22, 2011. And I also could join the occasion among other book lover dignitaries. He is a former Justice, Bangladesh Supreme Court
