Removed minister and former lawmaker Abdul Latif Siddiqui has been freed on bail 7 months after his detention. The former textiles minister was released from prison on Monday afternoon, days after he had obtained High Court bail in all cases filed against him for making offensive comments about Holy Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat. A couple of hours before coming out of the VIP cabin at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University where he was admitted to from the central jail-1, Latif Siddiqui, former MP from Tangail-4 constituency, requested reporters not to take a snap or photograph of him. Latif Siddiqui was sent to jail by a Dhaka court late last year in cases filed against him for hurting religious sentiments of the Muslim, according to a news agency.
