\\\'Laudable success in sanitation improves public health index\\\'

The public health index in Bangladesh’s rural areas has marked an improvement with reduction in water-borne diseases following laudable success achieved in sanitation coverage. The observation was made by the speakers at a sanitary latrine distribution ceremony held at Notkhana Balapara village at Nilphamari Sadar upazila on Wednesday. World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) under its Area Development Programme (ADP) organised the ceremony. The speakers lauded the success achieved in sanitation as almost all of the rural population has already been brought under its coverage pushing the country in achieving complete sanitation coverage for all soon in the process of building a healthy nation. They called for ensuring sanitation facilities for every family to keep the environment clean and maintaining good hygienic condition for every citizen to make the government’s sanitation programme successful at the earliest. They stressed on implementation of the government’s sanitation strategies to attain the set goals with active roles and participations of all stakeholders including officials, different organisations, local government bodies, media and NGOs, according to BSS.
