Launch capsizes: Writ filed seeking removal of officials

A writ petition seeking the removal of 10 officials, including the Shipping Secretary and the BIWTA chairman, for their failure to rescue three ill-fated launches, including Pinak-6 sunk recently in the Padma River, was filed on Tuesday. Ashish Kumar Dey, convener of Shipping, Roads and Railway Committee and another person, filed the writ petition with the relevant section of the High Court in the form of public interest litigation (PIL) , according to a news agency.
