Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain said in Faridpur Saturday that the government of Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has given highest importance for maintaining law and order in the right direction to ensure safety of the people and property across the country.
Mr Hossain while addressing a meeting of district law and order committee held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur said that despite many challenges faced by the government for the last five years we were successful in ensuring law and order congenial for the development activities and also for continuing prosperity of the country.
The Minister called upon the law enforcers to show 'zero tolerance' to any offenders of law irrespective of political beliefs and social status. We must keep in mind that for the interest of narrow political interest we cannot allow any body to break the law and create chaos and violence disturbing the peaceful society as well as the country as a whole, he added.
However, he expressed satisfaction at the prevailing law and order situation in the district and instructed the agencies concerned to be vigilant about drug, eve-teasing, movement of unauthorised motor-bike, human trafficking and extortion to make the district healthier and peaceful for habitation.
The meeting was presided over by DC Abu Hena Morshed Zaman while it was addressed, among others, by MP of Faridpur-4 Mujibur Rahman Nixon Chowdhury and Police Super Jamil Hassan.
Members of the committee including government officials, Upazilla chairmen, UNOs, educationists, journalists and political leaders were present in the meeting and some of them also put suggestions about law and order.
