Law enforcers asked to work impartially

Wednesday, 30 December 2009

Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun has asked the law enforcers to work impartially without being influenced by anyone using their party connection.
The minister also directed the law enforcers not to shelter anyone trying to influence them in any matter as "you are paid from the people's taxes."
"The previous governments had reduced the police force into a force of their party. But, we didn't do it," the Home minister said while addressing a views exchange meeting on community policing in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
Mentioning the strength of the police force compared to the population, she said: "Community police and the people must come forward in maintaining law and order as it is impossible for the police force alone to provide full protection to all."
Sahara Khatun said if the police force and people work together then criminals, no matter how influential they are, would not find a place in the country.
Community policing system would be introduced in every district to eliminate criminals, she said and pledged to increase the facilities for the law enforcers.
Among others, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner AKM Shahidul Huq addressed the meeting.
