Sunday, 16 December 2007
Inspector General (IG) of Police Noor Mohammad Saturday said the law-enforcing agencies including police and RAB would keep a strict vigilance during different programmes marking the Victory Day (V-Day), reports UNB.
"Police, RAB and other law enforcers will keep close watch during the Victory Day programmes across the country," he told newsmen after addressing a meeting of retired police officers.
Replying to a query, the police boss said they do not see any possibility of subversive attack on the eve of Victory Day. But, as in the past, sufficient number of law enforcers would be deployed at each of the programmes.
Earlier, in the morning, the IGP addressed the 25th annual general meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Retired Police Officers' Welfare Association (BRPOWA) at Rajarbagh Police Telecom auditorium.
Ex-IGP and also former adviser to caretaker government ARMG Kibria presided over the AGM.
Speaking as the chief guest, IGP Noor Mohammad said police should not be the cause of people's harassment. "They must remember that only the helpless people seek the help of police. So, perform positively to regain your lost image."
Officer In-charge (OC) of Sundarganj Thana in Gaibandha district Abu Jafar and OC of Chuadanga Sadar Thana Rabiul Islam were given 'SM Ahsan Memorial Award' at the function for their outstanding performance in implementing law and order.
