Friday, 29 January 2010

"Set free the murderers of Mujib or pay a high price, a quartet vigilantes threatened the Law Minister in a belated letter that was received when all were set for the condemned ex-army officers to go to the gallows, reports UNB.
"Release them in next 10 days' time…you will have to pay extreme price if the death penalty against them is executed," reads the letter, signed by some Md Khurshid from Agrabad Commercial Area in Chittagong.
Khurshid, who sent the letter on behalf of Md Nawab Ali, Abdul Hye and Shajahan, claimed that he is relative of President Zillur Rahman and that nothing could be done against them.
Typed in Bangla, the fax letter to Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed was sent from 'Jahan Electronics' and received by the Law Ministry at 11:05 on Wednesday night, when preparations were all but complete for hanging the five.
