Tuesday, 4 September 2007

A group of 51 lawyers of the Supreme Court came sharp with their demand for 'immediate' release of immediate-past premier and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia through 'legal process', reports UNB.
In a statement, they viewed that the former Prime Minister was arrested Monday without any specific allegation due to protracted propaganda orchestrated by a vested quarter, which is only a manifestation of 'conspiracy'.
"The arrest of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia by the joint forces is very unfortunate", the lawyers in their joint statement said.
The signatories to the statement include AM Mahabubuddin Khokon, M Shamsul Alam, AK Mujibur Rahman, Golam Mohammad Chowdhury Alal, Md Jainul Akhter Elahi, Md Helal Uddin Mollah, Md Abul Kalam Azad, Md Robiul Karim and M Karim Khan.
