Lawyers meet Mujahid at Dhaka Central Jail

Lawyers have met condemned war crimes convict Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid at Dhaka Central Jail-1. Jail sources said a five-member team of defence lawyers reached the central jail situated in Old Dhaka on Saturday morning to meet the death row war crimes convict. The team members are Advocates Shishir Monir, Mashiul Alam, Kamal Uddin, Nazibur Rahman and Motiur Rahman Akand. They entered the jail to meet their client around 11:05am. The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on June 16 upheld the death sentence to Mujahid for his crimes against humanity during the country’s independence struggles in 1971. He was handed down the capital punishment by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on July 17, 2013, according to a news agency.
