Thursday, 9 December 2010

FE Report
Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Bangladesh urged the least developed country (LDC) leaders to keep the World Bank (WB) 'out of climate finance' in climate change negotiation at Cancun Conference.
"No world bank loan in climate adaptation for Bangladesh" EquityBD, a network of NGO's and CSO's, demanded the issue to the Government of Bangladesh through a human chain jointly held with other concerned organisations in front of the National Press Club in the city Wednesday.
They also criticised that the involvement of WB in countries adaptation financing process might privilege the WB business interests and even undermine the government priorities in case of adaptation plan.
The human chain coordinated by Mustafa Kamal Akanda, Coordinator EquityBD including other 16 concerned organisations show their solidarity in the human chain.
Mr Mahabub Hossain of Coastal Development Partnership (CDP), Syed Aminul Hoque, Equity BD, Md. Sahidullah, SURO, Mr Firoz Ahmed, Lead Trust among others spoke at the human chain.
