“Anti-people philosophy followed in proposed budget”

Saturday, 9 June 2007

Mujahidul Islam Selim, general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Friday said an anti-people, anti-national reactionary philosophy was followed in the proposed budget, reports UNB.
Giving his initial reaction on the budget, he said more or less another traditional budget has been placed though there was an opportunity to utilise novelty by the caretaker government.
The CPB leader alleged that the directive, structure and arrangement of the budget have been determined as per the prescription of the World Bank (WB).
The budget will further widen class disparity as most of the supply of money for the budget would come from indirect tax to be collected from general people, he said.
"So, the budget this year is traditional on one hand, and on the other, it is full of self-contradictions and inconsistency," he added.
