FE Report
Some laboratories of Bangladesh College of Leather Technology (BCLT) have received accreditation recently from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), New Delhi, India.
The accreditation will allow the local leather sector enterprises to have their important tests done at the labs with recognition of the international community.
This was disclosed at a press conference at a city hotel Wednesday.
The accreditation has come at a time when the world community is looking for compliance with a set of tests for leather, footwear and leather goods.
The application was submitted to the NABL in August last year and the accreditation was finally obtained in March last.
Bangladesh Leather Service Centre (BLSC), a corporate component of the Leather Sector Business Promotion Council under the Ministry of Commerce, worked rigorously with the BCLT over the last two years for obtaining the accreditation.
Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Feroz Ahmed attended the press conference as the chief guest and Italian Ambassador in Dhaka Ms. Itala Maria Occhi as the special guest.
