Leather Tech College becomes DU institute

Bangladesh College of Leather Technology (BCLT) has begun its journey as Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology (ILET) under the Dhaka University's (DU) Faculty of Engineering and Technology, reports BSS. Earlier, the institution was under the Education Ministry's Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). An agreement to this effect was signed on Tuesday at the DU vice- chancellor's (VC) office. DU Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin on behalf of the university and Directorate of Technical Education Director Sheikh Alamgir Hossain on behalf of the government signed the agreement. Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director General of DTE M Shahjahan Mia, DU Engineering and Technology Faculty Dean Prof M Sekul Islam, Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman, DTE officials and teachers of the Leather Technology College were present on the occasion. Terming the agreement as a historical one, Prof Arefin Siddique said Bangladesh College of Leather and Technology is an asset of the people.
