Leave Jamaat, engage in dialogue: SCF

Leaders of Sector Commanders' Forum (SCF) urged Khaleda Zia on Saturday to refrain from doing hostile politics in the name of hartal-blockade and to sit in a dialogue with the government leaving Jamaat-e-Islami, reports BSS.
The urge was made at a rally after formation of a human chain protesting killing people in the name of blockade in front of Jatiya Press Club, jointly organised by SCF and Muktijuddha '71.
Forum's Vice-president and Sector Commander of No 8 Sector of Muktijuddha Lt Colonel (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury urged BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to leave Jamaat and to step forward with mentality of discussion refraining from doing ill politics of burning people by petrol bombs in the name of hartal-blockade.
"(You) Step in first for discussion. Then we will also request the government for discussion," he said.
He said the sector commanders' forum with people of all walks of life including youths will have to take to the streets, if BNP-Jamaat doesn't refrain from doing politics of killing people.
He said the SCF will launch a protest programme with general people across the country through a press conference soon, if the so-called non-political blockade of BNP is not withdrawn.
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, War Criminal Trial Platform, Anti-terrorism Platform, Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad and journalists' leaders along with common people joined the human chain.
Former Vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Prof Dr Anwar Hossain demanded arrest of Khaleda Zia as the mastermind of killing people by petrol bomb.
Presided over by Prof Abul Kalam Azad, the rally was also addressed by Forum's acting Secretary General Harun Habib, Lt General Harun-ur-Rashid and Advocate Ranadas Gupta, among others.
After the rally, the forum brought out an anti-terrorism procession and marched to Central Shahid Minar.
