Dhaka University authorities have asked students to leave the Central Shaheed Minar premises where they are on a hunger strike demanding a 2nd chance to sit for entry tests. The DU in a media statement on Wednesday night said the students needed to clear off to protect the sanctity of the mausoleum erected in memory of the martyrs of 1952 Language Movement. The youths were staying in the Shaheed Minar's main altar without permission, it said. The admission seekers started their hunger strike there around 2:00pm protesting the university authorities’ decision to not allow students to sit the admission tests twice. The DU media statement also stated that holding such programme at the Shaheed Minar was banned by the High Court, according to bdnews24.com.
