Less suffering for homebound passengers
Wednesday, 22 July 2015
During this Eid-ul-Fitr the homebound people suffered much less than any other time in the past. It is indeed a good piece of news and the concerned authorities must be admired for handling the situation efficiently. The law enforcing agencies have played their role efficiently to reduce the sufferings of homebound passengers by road and railways. Although people were seen travelling on rooftops of buses and trains, traffic congestion was tolerable this time which saved a lot of time and trouble. In addition, the vehicles mostly left the terminals on time. The travellers were happy to see the overall improvement.
Dhaka is a mega city of 16 million people and more than half of it leaves the capital during Eid holidays. I hope similar situation will prevail during the coming Eid-ul-Azha also. The roads will be repaired as broken roads are a common cause of traffic jam and slow movement of vehicles. I hope this time people will also be able to come back to Dhaka after their holidays more comfortably than before. I repeat, our experience in the management on highways during this Eid is a refreshing one and the concerned authorities including the law enforcing agencies deserve special appreciation for their commendable job.
