Let us take care of our city

Tuesday, 26 May 2015

It is indeed sad that even the educated citizens of our country are not conscious about saving power and using the same in times of need. We see the computers, air-conditioners, lights and fans are on in homes and offices when nobody is around. The amount of electricity wasted in this way across the country every day is quite substantial and can not be ignored. In the backdrop of increasing demand for power, it is imperative that we develop the habit of saving power whenever possible so that the power saved in this manner can be utilised for useful purposes. This is one of our civic responsibilities. We should always bear in our minds that this is our country and we need to take good care of it. There is a rising demand for power all over the world and production falls short of demand in many countries which has made it essential to ensure best utilisation of available supply. We should also cultivate the habit of disposing domestic wastes and garbage to specified garbage bins. Dhaka has already been identified as second most unliveable cities of the world which is unfortunate and embarrassing for all of us. But I believe we can reverse the scenario and make Dhaka one of the most beautiful cities of the world. All we need to do is to treat the city as our own home.
