Let\\\'s protect free press

Monday, 1 September 2014

Free press and democracy cannot be separated from each other. Without free press no democracy will last long. The government is trying to tighten the grip on the press so that its misdeeds and corruption are not exposed. The common people are always in favour of their right to know and dislike the ruling class who try to conceal the truth. The government move on the national broadcast policy has caused a stir in our society and most people have termed it 'anti-people'. The newspapers and media have always worked to establish rights of the people and thus earned confidence of the common people.
Every government has its own media and newspapers which highlight its achievements. Then why does the government need to enact such a draconian law to stifle the voice of the press? It is not understandable why the government has taken such a foolhardy decision and who is misguiding them.
