LGDR minister orders to identify risky school bldgs

Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam directed on Sunday the officials of his ministry to identify the risky school buildings and to ensure stern punishment for those responsible for irregularities in the construction of PK Government Primary School in Barguna, reports UNB.
The collapsed school building will be also reconstructed, said the minister while responding to reporters at the Secretariat.
A third-grader was killed and five others injured as a portion of ceiling of PK Government Primary School in Betagi Upazila collapsed on them on Saturday.
Expressing sorrow, Tajul said the on-duty officials of Local Government Engineering Department have been assigned to identify the responsible people and also to bring them to book.
Besides, directive has been given to take actions to identify risky school buildings and reconstruct those.
