Licences of 30 ISPs cancelled

The telecom regulator cancelled on Sunday licences of 30 internet service providers (ISPs) for their failure to renew the functional permit within the deadline, sources said.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) also asked these defaulter companies to pay their dues within next ten days to avoid legal and other punitive actions.
"… otherwise, necessary actions including legal steps under the public demand recovery act will be taken," a BTRC notice said.
The operators are: Nextel Telecom Limited, Poly IT Limited, Global Access Ltd, BJ International Co (Pvt) Ltd, Flora Limited, CPM Blue Online (P\\4) Ltd, Ektoo Limited, Global Technology Ltd, G Net Technology, M/s Axis Technologies, Sigma Systems (Pvt) Ltd, M/S Web Internet, M/s l-Net Ganibangla Electronics & Computers Ltd, M/s M G Electronics, Zia Online, M/s T-Network,  M/s Triunetech, Smart Systems & Consultants Ltd, M/s Macca Madina Traders, Ws Hazari Business Center, M/s E-net, M/s Systel IT, M/s Western Communication, M/s IT Sources, SA Telecom System Limited, M/s BeaConnet Online, M/s Zero 4 Network, Karatoa Online Ltd and SAS Technology.  
"These ISP operators didn't renew their licences, despite their licence tenure having expired, hence, their functions under these licences will be illegal," the notice reads.
